Recommended Resources

As any pastor studies and prepares for ministry, he comes across resources worth sharing with others. You’ll find some of the resources I have found beneficial below.

Premarital Counseling

One of the greatest privileges a pastor experiences is to walk with a couple through premarital counseling, their wedding, and the years that follow. You’ll find an outline for my premarital counseling plan and recommended books, articles, and blogs.

Recommended Commentaries

When preaching through a specific book of the Bible, you usually begin with a stack of commentaries only to find that by the end of the book you have narrowed the stack down to two to three and read them for specific purposes. I’ll share here the books that were in the initial stack and the two or three that were in the final handful.

Life On Mission

These resources are tested by study and practice. I have attempted to sort them in specific categories to aid the reader in finding the resource they are searching for and to introduce him/her to topics they may not have studied before.

Urban Missions and Ministry

I love the city and have dedicated the majority of my ministry applying missiological principles into urban contexts (either in a megacity in Latin America or the local church in the Scenic City). Whether you are a local pastor in a smaller city or considering where to begin as an urban missionary in a megacity of the world, you’ll find helpful resources here.

Books for Pastors

These are resources I’ve found beneficial in my own life and ministry. You’ll find books on preaching, leadership, ecclesiology, and Christian biographies here.
